Arthur RussellAnother Thoughtposter
We don’t think it’s too much of an exaggeration to describe Janette Beckman’s photograph of Arthur Russell in the newspaper hat as one of the most iconic music photos of all time.
The original black and white photo was taken in Janette’s New York studio back in 1986 for a short article in the January ’87 issue of The Face Magazine. In late 1993, with a blue tint, it found its way onto the cover of Another Thought, the first collection of Arthur’s music released after his death in 1992.
Everything of that exact photograph has long since been lost, but luckily Janette had a hi-res scan of a photo taken seconds before or after that she let us use for the new double vinyl and CD versions of Another Thought that we re-issued in 2021. And we’ve finally gotten around to turning the same photograph into this fine art quality poster.
This 50cm × 70cm poster (roughly 19.5 inches × 27.5 inches) is printed as an open edition on a heavyweight 250gsm satin-finish paper stock with the artist, title and formats adding to the luxury poster vibe.
For obvious reasons these posters are shipped separate from any records in the same order. That means that for mixed orders we charge an extra shipping fee for the poster. They’ll be wrapped in tissue and sent out rolled inside a typical mailing tube.
